Chocolate Orange Brownie

Chocolate Orange Brownies
These 3 syn Browines are a great low syn pudding for those of us who suffer from the sweet tooth monster. I served mine with sugar free chocolate syrup, but they could also be warmed up and served with ice cream or just enjoyed as a naughty (actually not that naughty) snack.. Mmmmmmmm YUM!

Ingredients

Chocolate Brownie
100g Self Raising Flour (16 syns)
30g Flora Light (4.5 syns)
3 Tbsp sweetener
3 Eggs
Tsp Baking Powder (1/2 syn)
Tsp Vanilla Essence
Tbsp cocoa powder (1 syn)
Orange Brownie
100g Self Raising Flour (16 syns)
30g Flora Light (4.5 syns)
3 Tbsp sweetener
3 Eggs
Tsp Baking Powder (1/2 syn)
Tsp Vanilla Essence
The juice from an orange
The zest from an orange
2 Tsp Orange food colouring (I used the Dr. Oetker extra strong gel, you can add more or less depending on how bright you what them)

To decorate
8 Terry’s Chocolate Orange minis chopped in half (1 syn per mini so 8 syns in total)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C. Spray a baking tray with Frylight (I used a larger one than with previous brownies as its double the mixture)
  2. To make the chocolate brownie, sieve the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into a bowl then add all the other ingredients and mix well
  3. Once combined pour the mixture into the baking tray and set aside for later
  4. To make the orange brownie, sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl then add all the other ingredients and mix well
  5. Pour the orange mixture onto the chocolate brownie (be slow and gentle)
  6. Cook for roughly 20 mins (every oven is different so keep and eye on it, if you are unsure poke a knife into the mixture and if it comes out clean with no wet mixture on you should be good to go)
  7. Remove from the oven and place the halved chocolate orange segments on top pushing them into the mixture
  8. Pop back into the oven for a few minutes, just so the chocolate starts to melt slightly
  9. Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack. Once completely cooled, remove brownie from the baking tray and cut into 16 pieces (trying to get a piece of mini chocolate orange on each slice)
  10. Enjoy !
